Doll fashion week 2, day 4

Wow, we're half way through doll fashion week 2! It went quickly.
I have to apologize to one of my younger friends who was quite enamored with the pants this jumper used to be. I didn't mean to cut them up, well okay yes I did, but they make a nice jumper anyway!
Well now we all know what the jumper is made from, (pants and an original pattern, like the clothing of the other days (the original pattern, not the pants part)) The shirt is from Day 2 of the last doll fashion week, and the hat belongs to another doll who kindly let us use it.
I'll see you tomorrow!!!

Doll fashion week 2, day 3

Kit is joining us today in her new sundress.
I made this dress from an old skirt that nobody wore anymore. It was really easy to make, aside from cutting it out, I just had to sew up one side and sew snaps on the sleeves.
The top photo was taken outside in my back yard. I was hoping that Nutmeg would let me take a picture of her beside Kit, but I found that the poor thing is afraid of dolls. (I let her sniff Kit, she jumped, and ran the other way. Weird dog.) :P

Kit is quite fond of this dress; her favorite color is purple. :)
Thanks for looking!

Doll Fasion week 2, day 2

Hi! Today, Samantha is showing us her new sweater, made from the Boxy Cardigan pattern by Emily Ivey. This is the third boxy cardigan I've made, and I'm quite pleased with the results. I think it might be a little on the bright side, but Samantha likes pink anyway so she doesn't mind. :)
My mom made the skirt for me a couple of years ago; it's still one of my favorite skirts. :)
I got the cat socks from Target last Halloween. They're actually supposed to be baby socks, but they fit American Girl dolls pretty well.
Oh, I knit Samantha's scarf from a long piece of fuzzy white yarn I found in a toy box. Kind of pitiful, but it makes a nice scarf!!

Doll fashion week 2, day 1

Hello! Today, the clothes that Kaya is wearing were technically made for Kit, but look pretty good on Kaya too.
The purple shirt is made from a fat quarter from Joann's. I made the vest out of some extra "denim" from a skirt I cut up. (I don't think it was really denim, it was a little too thin)
The pants are from the last doll fashion week (see day 6).
I made the boots from felt. I may put a tutorial up for them sometime, actually. They're pretty easy and fun to make. :)
I'm going to apologize now for the poor picture quality throughout the week. There are several very clear ones, and then there are several not so clear ones. Just saying.
See you tomorrow!

Spring Azaleas

I hope you will believe that I've been busy lately, and haven't thought much about posting, because that is the only excuse I have. :D
Anyway, I took these photos a couple of weeks ago when our azalea bushes were in full bloom. Since Kaya and I knew that they wouldn't last more than a few days, we decided to take some pictures in them. Kaya was very pleased to be out in the garden on a fresh spring day. I think azaleas might be one of my favorite flowers, actually. They're just so vibrant. :D

On another note, Doll fashion week, the sequel, will be coming sometime after tomorrow. Sounds sinister, doesn't it? Oh well, can't be helped. Make sure to stay tuned!!

The doll shawl

Hello! Today our subject is the doll's new shawl. I would like to say that I made it, but I didn't; my mom did. She did an awesome job too. :) It's a really good size and color for the dolls, and they are very happy with it, as I am.

The day after...

"Doll Fashion week was really fun, wasn't it Kirsten?" Samantha asked. "We should do that again next week."

"That's it, I'm outta here." Josefina said as she scurried to the door, Kaya following in hopes of getting her to change her mind.

See you soon! :)

Doll fashion week, day 7

Well, today is the last day of doll fashion. I hope all of you have enjoyed it as much as I have!
Today Josefina is wearing a pink dress that I made for my sister out of a baby dress.
As I was taking the photo, Josefina smiled and smoothed her dress. "I'm glad I don't have to wear floral shorts this time." she said.
"Um... me too." I agreed.
"I don't think the dress stands out very well against this black background though. (this was before she got a silver background.) Do you have anything else?"
After rooting through my fabric, I finally came across the fabric that is the current background. Josefina was very pleased with it. I paused, waiting for any complaints. "You can go ahead." she said.
I breathed a sigh of relief. Compliant dolls are a lot easier to photograph.

Doll fashion week, day 6

Today Kaya is our participant. Her shirt is made of the some pair of shorts as Kit's, and the raglan sleeves are made from scraps of a denim skirt. I made her shorts out of the pockets of a pair of jeans, and the waistband (not shown) out of white broadcloth.

I made her shoes out of the remains of a pair of jeans, and white broadcloth. I think they turned out really well!

Doll fashion week day 5!

Today Kirsten is wearing a dress that I have just finished recently. It is made from some extra fabric from a quilt, and no pattern was used. I made it in two pieces (a shirt and a skirt) so that it can be used in many different outfits.

Kirsten's cargo... a cat, a scrapbook, and googles... :D
